Carolina Thermal Resources is a service provider of infrared
thermography also called thermal imaging.
Infrared Thermography (Thermal Imaging) involves performing thermographic surveys
using an infrared imaging camera to “see” invisible infrared energy (heat) emitted from an
object.
Simply put, infrared thermography allows
us to see what our eyes cannot.
Thermal Images
Infrared cameras produce images (thermograms) that show invisible infrared energy or
heat. These thermal images can be used to identify thermal conditions that are often a sign of
mechanical or electrical malfunction.
Moreover, the infrared image reveals the severity of the problem by indicating
the varying degrees of temperature.
The ability to conduct thermal imaging inspections allows
companies to detect “hot spots” early in mechanical
components, electrical
systems, and building structures.
Such preventive maintenance provides numerous cost effective benefits to companies and homeowners.
Most common in the manufacturing setting, thermography is a tool used for Predictive Maintenance (Pdm).
Thermal inspections evaluate the condition of equipment by performing periodic condition monitoring. The
ultimate goal of Predictive Maintenance is to perform maintenance at a scheduled point in time when the maintenance
activity is most cost effective and before the equipment loses performance within a threshold. Overall the
goal of Predictive Maintenance is to predict the future trend of the equipment's condition; thereby minimizing
disruption of normal system operations.
For homes and buildings in general, Thermographic Inspections
can reveal hot spots in electrical wiring and components, as well as reveal water leaks in roofs and other
structures.
